How Lessons Work
Water Safe Swim holds daily lessons of 10 minutes or less, 4x a week (typically Monday-Thursday) for either a 2 week session or 4 week session. Lessons take place at a private instructor’s residence pool, ensuring a safe and controlled environment for learning.

Based on your child’s age and prior water experience, we will work together to identify the Water Safe Skill set and session that best suits their unique needs. Our individualized approach ensures that your child is set up for success, gains confidence and competence in the water, building the foundation for a lifetime of safe and enjoyable water activities.
3 Water Safe Skill Sets based on your child’s prior water experience
FLOAT
6-17 months
Floaters will learn how to find and maintain a BACK FLOAT position. From any way your child might get into the water they will be able to rotate and roll over to a back float position until help arrives.
SWIM/FLOAT
18+ months
Your child will learn to hold their breath while swimming face-down, roll onto their back to rest and breathe, and transition between these positions to reach safety, like a pool wall or steps. For some children, we may focus solely on the SWIM to FLOAT sequence, ensuring they gain a competent skill set to navigate the water safely.
SWIM/FLOAT/
BREATHING
2-5 years old
Your child will use the same SWIM to FLOAT to SWIM skill set and/or learn to pick their heads up to take a breath instead of the back float skill or a combination of both floating to rest and breathe and picking their heads up to breathe.
As a family with a pool, we knew we had to equip each of our kids with the ability to save their own lives if they ever ended up in the pool without supervision. My youngest, Hattie, proved to me that toddlers can do anything they put their minds to. I caught her at the young age of 3 years and 7 months old opening our Protect-a-Child pool fence. She’d taken the bathroom stool we had for her to reach the sink outside and was able to open the fence all on her own. Thankfully, I caught her in action and was able to stop her from heading into the ‘protected’ pool area. It showed me that even with proper precautions, accidents can still happen. That was one of the many moments I felt grateful for Miss Julie and each of our daughters’ Water Safe Swim skills.
